Optional investigations

01 · Do this

Follow the route in order.

1. 01

   Read the new clue, note, or nearby point of interest and join it to the relevant Investigation when the game offers that action.

2. 02

   Use the Investigation view to follow its location markers and clue relationships. Search the side route only as far as the current objective and your supplies justify.

3. 03

   Take the optional reward or route information when you reach it, then return to the active main objective if the side case is no longer helping your progress.

4. 04

   If a case has no verified full walkthrough here, keep its clues in-game rather than treating a partial list as the complete case order.

02 · Confirm

What success looks like.

• The main objective remains available even when an optional investigation is left unfinished.
• A completed side route can provide clues, supplies, an upgrade, or a safer route through the current area when that reward is part of the investigation.
• The Investigation view shows the connected clues instead of forcing you to remember every note manually.

03 · Boundaries

Opening-route boundaries.

• This page verifies the mechanic and its practical use, not a complete list or count of every case in the full game.
• Rewards and route shortcuts depend on the particular investigation; do not promise a named item until its location has a separate two-source answer.
• A search result for a case number, ending consequence, or later chapter is not covered by this general rule.

04 · Undo

If the route stalls.

• There is nothing to undo in files or settings. Leave the side route and select the current main objective from the Investigation view.
• If a clue does not join, reread the note and confirm that the correct Investigation is selected before moving on.
